Twink was not initially conceived as children's music, although much of the album's inspiration comes from nursery rhymes and the bright sounds provided by over two dozen of Mike's toy pianos. Mike says, "I just let myself go and really had fun with this album, and I think it shows." While certainly reminiscent of whimsical kiddie records, Twink treads a wide range of moods; sometimes sounding intoxicated and hyperactive, at other times quite sinister.
