Eleven dulcitar-fueled tracks of snippetlike bursts of joy, My Big Fat Privates (Rockin' All Night) masterfully connects the literalness of each title to the visceral feel of the music. From the cheery, open air of "Good Fiddle" to the tripped-up, moment-away-from-climax of "Funk Lover," Dawson, et al., visit their scenarios with good Hoosier cheer. "Blargy" could well be a traditional but little-known Irish drinking song. "Sun Bathing" sounds like sun bathing. And "Weather Channel" compels you to wonder what the relative humidity is. What George Harrison did for the Indian sitar the Dawsons have done, less conspicuously for sure, for the Indiana dulcitar, an instrument whose sweet melodies carry the CD, and make for Big Fat Pleasure.
